Terms of Service

Please note that no charges have been made to your credit card when you made your reservation. The total charges will be due at check-in. 

Add 15.3% lodging tax to quoted rate. No added membership fees!  We are an independently operated hostel, licensed by Hostelling International USA. HI Membership is not required at independently operated hostels.    

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. You must cancel any reserved date 24 hours beforehand. We charge the full amount of the first night of your reservation for late cancellations. 

Our Front Desk is open 7am - 11pm. Your room will be ready for check in by 3pm the day of your reservation. We have luggage storage if you arrive earlier to check in.

We are a hostel for travelers!   We are unable to accommodate residents of the Portland/Vancouver Metro area. A government-issued ID showing residence outside of this area is required upon check-in.

For the safety and comfort of our guests, we may refuse service to anyone for valid, non-discriminatory reasons.

We do not assume responsibility for theft or loss of personal property on our premises. We provide lockers and offer locks free of charge for a refundable deposit.

Smoking is allowed in designated smoking areas only. Alcohol is only allowed in dedicated areas, e.g. the Hostel Cafe areas licensed by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

Animals, excluding service animals, are not permitted.

A parent, legal guardian or an adult leader of an organized group, such as a Girl Scout troop, church group or similar organization, must accompany all guests under 18 years of age.

Respect and tolerance for other guests is expected.

Criminal offences such as: consumption of illegal drugs, substance abuse, theft/stealing, vandalism/destruction of public property, gambling, fighting, and any other forms of criminal act or behavior not stated here, will be reported to the police.

Commitment to Online Security

Physical, electronic and managerial procedures have been employed to safeguard the security and integrity of personal information. Billing information is encrypted whenever transmitted or received online. Personal information is accessible only by staff designated to handle online inquiries or complaints. All agents and contractors with access to personal information obtained on our website are also bound to adhere to this policy.

Personal Information that We May Collect Online

When an individual makes a reservation online, we may collect the following types of personal information: name, age, postal and e-mail addresses, telephone numbers and billing information.

How We Use Personal Information Collected Online

Unless you consent, we will not use your personal information for any purpose other than that for which it is submitted. We use personal information to reply to inquiries, complete a transaction, manage complaints, and provide operational notices. We will provide you with the opportunity to opt out of receiving communications and solicitations. Election boxes appear as part of individual communications and solicitations. At any time you can add or remove your name from our email list by contacting us at info@nwportlandhostel.com.

How Your Information May Be Shared

We will not sell or rent your personal information to any third party nor will we give direct access to any third party for the distribution of information or a given product or service offer, without being coordinated through us.

We may also release personal information to appropriate governmental authorities under the following circumstances:

Where release is required by law (for example, a subpoena) or regulation, or is requested by a government agency conducting investigations or proceedings;

Where our records indicate a guest may be engaged in fraudulent activity or other deceptive practices that a governmental agency should be made aware of.

Where your communication suggests possible harm to others.

Computer Tracking and Cookies

Our website tracks sessions and employ analytics. However, we do not collect or distribute personal information not entered by visitors. Our site logs do generate certain kinds of non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of hits and visits. This information is used for internal purposes by technical support staff to provide better services to the public and may also be provided to others in the form or aggregate traffic reports, but such statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. We use non-identifying cookies to provide easier site navigation and access to forms. You can still use our website if your browser is set to reject cookies. Our cookies do not generate personal data, do not read personal data from your machine and are never tied to anything that could be used to identify you.
